The Gerbils

Gerbils are very interesting and unique animals and are great pets. They are native to the desert so they do not excrete that much waste. They are not extremely difficult to care for and rewards you with hours of fun with it, once he/she is accustomed to you. Obviously, water, food, bedding, and a cage are a must for this pet, but the results will not disapoint you. I'm not expert at caring for gerbils, however. If you have any tips, tricks, or things you want others to know, post it here. (Post is still incomplete)

  1. Anyway, I'll continue explaining how to care for gerbils. Let's see here, gerbils will need quite a bit of attention if you want it to be tamed. When you feed it and change the cage, the gerbil will be sniffing your hand and might nibble it a bit. It's getting used to your hand and will eventually not be quite as skirmish when your hand goes in. You can place your hand on the ground and see if the gerbil will rest on it. You can then slowly lift your hand up, just a LITTLE. The gerbil might be frightened and jump off, but soon, if you're patient enough, you'll be holding it in your hand. Gerbils love to tunnel, so if you firmly- but not so much as to squeeze- wrap your hands around the gerbil it'll feel more secure. Soon, you can teach it to stay on your shoulder, or whatever you want. Hope this helped!
